Past, Present, & Future of Public Radio

September 26th, 2007

To keep up with the needs and interests of a diverse and constantly changing audience, media outlets are faced with a challenge: they must learn how to reinvent themselves in order to attract new listeners while holding on to the old ones.

Noticing this trend in recent years, Chicago Public Radio has adapted to provide a range of on-air programs focusing on arts and culture and youth and minority issues. Although they have maintained their status as a news-service leader, with listenership and membership levels leveling off, there is always room for improvement. This time, public radio and other traditional media are looking towards the Internet for help.

This episode of Community, Media & You, we’ll have a conversation about shifting trends in the radio business and how traditional media is adapting with an interview with veteran host of Chicago Public Radio’s public affairs programming Richard Steele
