Art Therapy at C4
December 11th, 2007Many adults and community members forget or are simply unaware of the societal and familial problems teenagers confront as they mature. With poverty, mental illness or emotional trauma added to the mix, for some teens, growing up becomes an even bigger challenge.
Aware of this issue, the Community Counseling Centers of Chicago, also known as C4, provide behavioral health services to adults and teens. Located through out the city, each center offers a different theraputic service.
Next month, a group of teens participating in C4’s art therapy program, will display their self-portraits at an exhibit called “Between the Lines.” Local artist Tom Robinson has been working closely with the teens and offered his studio space for the exhibit.
On this episode of Community, Media & You, we’ll have a conversation about C4’s art therapy program and the teen’s up and coming exhibit.
Your host is Thom Clark of the Community Media Workshop @ Columbia College and joining him on the discussion is C4 art therapist, Dali McGuire, local artist Tom Robinson, and teen artist Marisol Garcia
